Upload an H5P file to Moodle or WordPress

The .h5p file from the generator carries every H5P library the activity needs, so you do not have to install the activity type first. LMSable does not upload the file to your platform; you do that yourself.

Before you start

Download the file first: Generate H5P content with AI. Do not unzip it - upload the .h5p file exactly as it downloaded.

WordPress

With the H5P plugin installed:

  1. In wp-admin, open the H5P menu and choose Add New.
  2. Choose the upload option and select the .h5p file you downloaded.
  3. Save the new content.

Insert it into a page or lesson with the H5P shortcode or block your site provides. It works inside LearnDash, MasterStudy and any theme that renders H5P shortcodes.

Moodle

  1. Upload the .h5p file to the content bank of your course, or add an H5P activity to the course and upload the file there.
  2. Save, then open the activity to check it.

Other platforms

The Lumi desktop app, Drupal and other H5P-enabled hosts can also open .h5p files. Check your platform's documentation for how it imports H5P content.

The steps above are a general outline, not the platforms' official instructions. Menu names and steps vary by platform and version. If your screen looks different, follow your platform's own H5P documentation.

What you should see

The activity shows the same content you saw in the generator's preview. Its look and buttons come from your platform's H5P player, so it will not look exactly like the preview.

If something goes wrong

  • "Missing required library" or similar: the platform is running an H5P version older than the activity needs. Update the H5P plugin (WordPress) or H5P support (Moodle) and upload the file again.
  • The upload is rejected outright: confirm you are uploading the .h5p file itself, not an unzipped folder.
  • Still failing: note the exact error message and your platform, then contact us with those details. On the generator's success screen you can also answer Did it import into your LMS? with No, something went wrong to see further tips.
