Fill a lesson: copy the prompt, paste the answer

Every lesson follows the same two-step round trip with your AI chat: copy a prompt out, paste an answer back in.

Before you start

Give the lesson a real title and a short description first - LMSable warns you if either is missing, because the generated prompt would otherwise be too generic.

Steps

  1. On the Lessons step, click Edit next to the lesson (Edit quiz for quiz and test lessons, if the quiz editor is on).
  2. Interaction lesson: pick a material type first, or keep the Suggested format - see Choose the right interaction type. Quiz or test lesson: set How many questions and click Generate prompt.
  3. Click Copy prompt.
  4. Paste the prompt into your AI chat and run it.
  5. Copy the whole answer the chat returned.
  6. Interaction lesson: paste it into Paste the AI response and click Save. Quiz or test lesson: paste it into Paste the JSON from your chat, click Import, check the questions, then click Save.

A plain text lesson opens the block editor directly, with no lesson prompt. Write the text yourself, or use Smart split with AI on a text block.

What you should see

The lesson is marked Completed in the list. Check it with Preview course, or Save and preview in the editor.

If something goes wrong

  • The lesson already has content and you want to redo it: on an interaction lesson, click Build it again to restart the prompt-and-paste flow with a new material type, or Preview to check what is already there first.
  • Save or Import is greyed out: paste the full answer from your AI chat into the response box - an empty box cannot be saved.
  • The pasted content looks wrong or incomplete in the preview: rerun the prompt in your AI chat, this time keeping the title and description filled in so the instructions are specific.
